Beaune Clos des Mouches Chardonnay
1er Cru 2022

Grape Variety : Chardonnay

Soil : Stony soil of Limestone, clay and silica

Site : Chanson is one of the major owners of Clos des Mouches with a vineyard of 4.5 hectares. A sunny Terroir which benefits from an ideal location on the hill at the southern end of the vineyards of Beaune on a spur pointing toward Pommard . A plot of 2 hectares on the upper side of the hill is planted with Chardonnay on a limestone subsoil covered with sand.

The Vintage 2022 : After a winter characterized by marked variations in temperature between January and February, spring started with mild temperatures. A sequence of cold weather in April was followed by warm temperatures in May but the lack of water was very noticeable and could not be compensated by the rainy storms of June. Summer was marked by several and long heat waves and the storms of the end of August were most welcome. The harvest at Chanson started on August 30 with a team of 100 persons and ended on September 13. 2022 vintage was quite generous both in volume and quality and the white wines are well-balanced, precise and refreshing.

Tasting : Pale gold color. Floral fragrances mixed with aromas of pale fleshed fruit, yellow fruit (peach and apricot) and toasty bread notes on a hint of minerality. Well-balanced and well-structured. Creamy texture. Complex oak note. Long and generous aftertaste with slightly spicy notes. Score : 95/100 Jasper Morris/Inside Burgundy - 16,5/20 Jancis Robinson

Food pairing : To be enjoyed with foie gras, all sorts of seafood, fish, white meat and certain cheeses like Comté or Citeaux.
